South Coast Emergency Ultrasound Course Level 1

The South Coast Emergency Ultrasound Course Level 1 is taking place on 13th - 14th June 2013. This course is aimed at all doctors who are involved in management of acute medical and emergency conditions.  The course programme covers the requirements of Emergency Medicine Ultrasound Level 1 set by The College of Emergency Medicine. South Coast Emergency Ultrasound Course Level 2

The South Coast Emergency Ultrasound Course Level 2 is taking place on 23rd - 24th May 2013. This course is designed as an introduction to the advanced (Level 2) skills in Acute and Emergency Medicine Ultrasound.  It follows the guidance set by The College of Emergency Medicine but is also relevant and extremely useful for Physicians dealing with critically ill patients in Emergency, Acute Medical or Intensive Care units.  For more information or to book a place please contact Kayleigh Lord Email: kayleigh.lord@nhs.net Tel: 01323 414967.

Antibiotic Policy

Changes to Trust's Antibiotic Policy - now renamed Antimicrobial Prescribing Policy for Adults and Children

Please note that a revised edition of the Trust's "Antibiotic Policy" is now available, to view the policy please click on the following link: "Antimicrobial Prescribing Policy for Adults and Children".

Please discard copies of the old policy and of the two page summary. The short version (summary) will be updated in due course.

For Paediatricians and paediatric junior doctors: Please discard the old laminated hand-outs given to you, updated hand-outs will be prepared in the near future. Meanwhile, please see chapter 12 of the "Antimicrobial Prescribing Policy for Adults and Children" for paediatric antimicrobial advice.

Mandatory training dates

Mandatory patient and safety training for all doctors who have been in post at least one year.

An E-learning training package has been designed to enable doctors to undertake a majority of Patient and Staff Safety training update subjects on-line. This is an independent e-learning system with a separate hosting site from the National Learning Management System (NLMS) available via the Electronic Staff Record system (ESR).

The revised arrangements will replace the ‘one stop’ workshops, providing a more flexible alternative.

The new package is available containing links to Annual and three yearly modules. Topics included are as follows:

  1. Moving and Handling Theory for Doctors
  2. Equality and Human Rights
  3. Blood Transfusion
  4. Clinical Risk Management
  5. Health and Safety
