Emergency Department praised for excellent hygiene
The Emergency Department at Conquest Hospital has been praised for its
excellence in infection control.
The department has been awarded the Trust’s Hand Hygiene Champions Cup for
continued 100 percent compliance in the monthly hand hygiene audits carried out
by the Infection Control team.
Infection Control link nurse for the department, Sarah Ricketts, has been
proactive in ensuring high standards of infection control are maintained among
staff at all times.
Link nurses such as Sarah help the Trust’s infection control team monitor and
implement good hand hygiene within ward areas.
Georgie Luxford, Infection Control Nurse, said: “Sarah has always been a
driving force for the Emergency Department in her role as infection control link
nurse and she continues to push for excellence. The staff in the department are
always under tremendous pressure and despite this they continue to maintain 100
percent for hand hygiene compliance and, through the guidance of Sarah, they
highlight any potential infection issues promptly to the infection control
team.”
The Hand Hygiene Champion Cup is awarded monthly to recognise excellence in
hand hygiene and to promote healthy competition between wards around the
Trust.
