MP Amber Rudd officially opens the new shop, along with (L-R) Councillor Jeremy Birch, Deputy Mayor of Hastings Councillor Bruce Dowling, Kathy Baldwin (Team Lead Specialist Advisor for Stop Smoking Service), Bob Brown (Licensing Manager for Hastings Borough Council), Jeanette Williams (Clinical Service Lead for the Stop Smoking Service), Councillor Philip Scott.

The shop was funded by Hastings Borough Council and is run by the NHS in East Sussex to give local people easy access to a range of stop smoking services. This includes free, friendly and expert support and the opportunity to access a range of nicotine replacement therapy.

Resources and information on other health and well-being services, including sexual health, mental well-being, Health Trainer services and alcohol and substance misuse services are also on offer.

Drop-in sessions to help people stop smoking will be run and appointments for clients wishing to access support from the local Health Trainers team will be available.

Stop smoking clinics will be held at the shops on Mondays between 12pm and 3pm, Wednesdays between 9am and 12pm and Fridays between 9:30am and 11:30am.

Jeanette Williams, Stop Smoking Service Manager and Service Lead, said: “Half of all smokers will die from a smoking related disease and on average a lifelong smoker loses around ten years of their life expectancy. That is why the NHS in East Sussex continues to work hard with our partners to develop services like this new shop.”
