School Nursing promotes health to children and young people of all ages. All members of the team contribute to health promotion activities which can be delivered to individuals, families and entire school classes.
We work with schools to offer health promotion lessons as part of school curriculum or if a particular health issue occurs in school we educate the children on how to stay healthy.
Some examples of health promotion School Nurses and Community Nursery Nurses offer:
- Healthy eating
- Smoking / alcohol / substance misuse
- Allergies
- Sexual health
- STI’s and contraception
- Staying active
- Staying safe
- Staying healthy and clean
- Puberty and development
- And many others
