The East Sussex sleep disorder service at Conquest Hospital mainly serves the population of the South East of England.
Its staff, led by Mr Andrew d’E Meredith MA FRCS DLO, Consultant ENT Surgeon and Sleep Specialist, have been commended and twice runners up in the Hospital Doctors Awards for ‘Sleep Medicine Team of the Year’ for their innovative and dedicated work in this developing field.
Referrals are through Choose and Book but if no appointments are available, paper referrals are accepted and additional clinics are put in place to meet waiting times. This is a single sited service and referrals are taken from throughout the county and out of area.
In the last year over 500 Sleep Studies have been performed, which also include a number of paediatric overnight Oximetry studies with observations and the unit has supplied to over 250 CPAP treatments with 70 to 80% success rate.
The trust is committed to this service, which has been running since 1994, and is planning to provide a purpose built Sleep Studies Unit with permanent beds.
We also plan to introduce full Polysomnography with video monitoring.
